What is our Tackle Box Program?

Take some time to visit Slate Run Metro Park in Canal Winchester and at Buzzard’s Roost Lake (located in the park) you will find a locker that contains fishing poles and bait for student use while at the lake. Whether it is their first time ever holding a fishing pole or they have fished before students can have fun fishing for bass and bluegill. Or maybe be lucky enough to hook a catfish.

Several poles that are ready for use are located in the locker along with additional bags of bait for use. Our volunteers visit the box once or twice a week to repair any poles in need and restock bait bags. We hope to see you out there and wish you the best of luck in fishing.

Providing this outdoor activity for students has been a wonderful outreach program for Anne’s Smiles and has allowed hundreds of students to enjoy the outdoors and try something new.
